Daytona 500 Blowed Up

NASCAR continues to lose viewers.

The race portion of the 2010 Daytona 500, won by Jamie McMurray, drew a 7.7/16 fast-national rating and 13.3 million viewers on FOX Sunday — down 16% in ratings and 17% in viewers from last year (9.2, 16.0 mil), and down 25% in ratings and viewership from 2008 (10.2/20, 17.8 mil). This marks the lowest rated Daytona 500 since 1991 (7.6, CBS), and the least-viewed since 2000 (12.9 mil, CBS).

To put the numbers in perspective, the 2010 Daytona 500 ranks behind the 2009 NBA Finals on ABC (8.4, 14.3 mil), the 2009 World Series on FOX (11.7, 19.3 mil), the 2009 NCAA Final Four on CBS (9.1, 14.9 mil), the final round of The Masters on CBS (8.3, 14.3 mil), and the race portion of the Kentucky Derby on NBC (9.8, 16.3 mil), among others.

These ole boys need some tobacco chewin’, illegal liquor haulin’, brawlin’, hillbilly divers to reincarnate the sport. The spit and polish, corporate spokes-persons that now pass as drivers just are not interesting (to me).

  3. Hendrick Motor Sports

NASCAR has been renamed Hendrick Motor Sports

Hendrick Motor Sports spends more money than all the others combined. It has ruined NASCAR.

Jeff Gordon, everyone hates the guy. His sugar in his tank will never go away.

Earnhardt Little e, the guy cannot drive and never could. This guy is even uglier than Jeff Gordon, if that is even possible.

Mark Martin, the guy was a zero forever. Everyone likes the guy but he never has done a thing. Then, he shows up at Hendrick Motor Sports and comes up 2nd place last year. What does that tell you about how Hendrick Motor Sports has ruined NASCAR.

4-time Champion Jimmie Johnson. He drives for Hendrick Motor Sports, put him on ANY other team and he wins zero of the 4 consecutive. Plus, he reminds me of Sugar in his tank Jeff Gordon.

It was a racetrack that had a pothole that NASCAR fixed taking one hour and 45 minutes.

5 minutes later, they had to do it again.

    Broadcast started at noon.

    Ended at 8 p.m.

And, these are the drives they try to tell us are so great. 8 hours of listening on FOX to begin the season to 2 guys who cannot speak English.

You want 100 million viewers to NASCAR ?

Get rid of crew chiefs trying to talk about a sport to 100 million people. I have to shake my head to be able to talk to anyone on Monday to get the crap out of my head those 2 guys Larry McReynolds and Jeff Hammond said for 8 hours.

How in the hell can you have 2 announcers on FOX for 8 hours, neither of whom can formulate 1 single solitary English sentence. I mean they don’t even come close to being able to speak the language.

When a team has a million dollars to buy a single tool that no one else can begin to buy, Hendrick Motor Sports has ruined NASCAR. And, don’t forget that NASCAR also allows this Hendrick Motor Sports to completely in addition provide Tony Stewart his equipment too. That’s just not fair.
